It’s My Birthday

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

I turned 27 this morning at 7:47am and I’ve crossed over into my late 20’s. I don’t really feel any different. I just feel tired. I don’t want to go drinking at a bar, I just want to relax. I guess I’m getting old.

Only I Am Listening to 88.1 WTNT

PCI FM transmitterI received my PCI FM transmitter card only 4 days after ordering it from www.pcs-electronics.com. Installation was a snap and I was up and broadcasting on 88.1 FM in no time.

I checked all the radios in my house and they were able to pick up the signal perfectly. I walked outside with an FM radio and I was able to hear my music from 2 houses down on either side. After that it became complete static. I am extremely impressed with the range especially since I am only using the included antenna which is simply a tiny piece of wire (it’s the purple wire in the picture). Also, the computer is in my basement and not up a high point in the house like the instructions recommend.

Using the included software, I simply turned down the power output and so that it doesn’t broadcast beyond my house and potentially annoy my neighbors. 88.1 was clear before I used it so I think I’m safe. While I was writing this blog post, my neighbor from 3 houses away just started blasting horrible Spanish music that was actually louder than my stereo, so go figure.

You’re Listening to 88.1 WTNT

PCS ElectronicsSoon, I will be listening to all of my MP3s on every FM radio in the house. I am buying a PCI card for my computer that is able to broadcast in FM. This is very exciting. It is exactly what I need. I can just imagine waking up to my own radio station of my own music. Being able to play the same music in multiple rooms of the house, and outside.

All I need to do is install it, find a frequency that isn’t used, and broadcast on the lowest setting. Check the radios I want to hit and turn it up if needed. All with a few clicks of the mouse. Obviously the idea is to not bother anyone else, especially the FCC 🙂

I will make sure to let you know what I think. Go and check out PCS Electronics: www.pcselectronics.com

Shelving for the Gamer

It’s not like I have a shortage of projects going on, one of them being this website, but maybe I should build myself a set of Tetris Shelving.

Playing PSP Games from the Memory Stick

Sunday, May 8th, 2005

Someone has figured out how to play Wipeout from the memory stick of the PSP:

If Sony isn’t going to make that embeded browser available to the public then the public is going to make it available.
