Traffic Lights are Stupid

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

I hate stupid traffic lights and I’m going to do something about it. Introducing my next project:

Using Google Maps and an online database, I will allow users to click anywhere in the world and add the location as a problem intersection. They can comment on the intersection, rate the location, and even create and sign a petition to do something about the location. Users will be able to email or print out the petitions to show their local governments.

Now I need a domain name. My favorite,, is already taken. I was thinking about using my domain but I wouldn’t want to base the idea around traffic intersections. I’d rather convert this whole project into a general location/petition service if I were to use

So far this is just for fun and the experience. It’s always good to learn new things

The Money I Win in Vegas, Comes from My Wife

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

I started off my first night of gambling in Las Vegas by losing $200 in Let it Ride, and $100 in Casino War. It certainly was not a good start for me. My wife had much better luck by only losing $160 in Let it Ride, and winning a whooping $285 in Casino War.

The next time I gambled, I sat at a $25 Blackjack table at the Luxor and I won $325. I sat at that table because of the group of guys who were already sitting there. They were loud and fun, exactly what I wanted. It was one of the best times I’ve had gambling. The pit boss was called over numerous times for the decisions that I was making (like surrendering and doubling for less), so that only made me feel like a high roller. Usually its bad when they call the pit boss but in all cases it worked in my favor.

Four hours before my flight home, my wife and I sat down again at the Blackjack table in our hotel (MGM Grand). I walked away with an additional $200. My wife played some more Casino War thinking it was her game and she walked away down $200 for the whole vacation. Combined we were up a mere $25 for the vacation. The moral of this story? Bet alone. When you’re ahead, don’t bet more than your winnings 🙂

The Money I Lose in Vegas, Stays in Vegas

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

My wife got us plane tickets to Las Vegas for our anniversary and tomorrow we start our vacation. The bathroom renovations will be complete when we return and we plan on recording our reactions so that we can get on This Old House.

I Need to Shower

Thursday, September 8th, 2005

We have lived in our home for almost a year now and we have yet to take a shower on the second floor of our house. It’s a little later than we had hoped but we are currently renovating our bathroom. I love taking before and after pictures as some of you may know. I posted some pictures of the bathroom before the renovation and some during the process.

I was surprised to see how cool my house looks like from the inside 🙂
