When the Whole Shebang Isn’t Enough

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Two ShebangsWhile looking through my vast collection of pictures the other day and I stumbled upon one that I had to share.

In April of 2006, 14 friends got together to throw a surprise birthday dinner for our friend Todd. We went to this great (and expensive) restaurant in NYC called Alta. Their menu is certainly unique and they offer dishes you won’t find anywhere else.

What did we order? Everything on the menu. Twice.

Yup, we got the whole shebang, 2 of them.

Waiters began bringing out food as soon as we had poured wine into our glasses. Dish after dish continued to arrive.

Dinner At AltaWe developed a border system where one end of the table was the northern territory and one was the southern tip. Trade agreements began forming. Popular dishes went fast only to be replaced by the next dish coming out of the kitchen.

The waiters would drop one of each dish off at each end, tell one person what it was and venture back into the kitchen to fetch some more. It was that person’s job to communicate what the food was. No one could remember the name, only parts of it, but it didn’t matter. What mattered was how much the person before you liked it.

Some dishes were too scary looking and were simply passed around until a brave soul tried a sample. Then of course others would have to indulge themselves.

I had a great time and I got to sample some very interesting foods. If you ever get a chance to order everything on the menu, I highly recommend it.

Of course, this isn’t the first time I’ve ordered mass quantities of food. There was that time at Taco Bell that I asked for the entire yellow menu. But that’s a story for another time 🙂

More Pictures of Kaylee Ann

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

By popular demand, I’ve posted some pictures of our beautiful Kaylee Ann Canoni. Enjoy!

I recently got a new High Definition video camera that takes some amazing quality video. Once I figure out how to post those, I’ll be sure to share. More pictures to come, so check back soon.

And unfortunately, “Kaylee” is not available as a vanity license plate 🙁

Simpsonize Me into Adulthood

Scott Canoni as a SimpsonLast night Anna and I went to the movie theaters for the last time as baby-less parents. We knew it would be a long time before we’d be able to go back to the movies. We saw the Simpsons Movie and it was by far the best movie we’ve seen in a long time. Highly recommended to all. Make sure to stick around for the credits.

A friend of mine always said that when the Simpsons stopped creating new shows for TV, it will mean we have finally turned into adults. I’ve agreed with him until now. Watching the Simpsons Movie last night was a way of welcoming myself into full blown adulthood. I’m pretty sure that Matt Groening purposefully released the movie on my daughters due date.

If you go to, you can use a photo to generate a Simpson version of yourself. I was pretty pleased the results.

No baby yet. If you’re wondering where little baby Canoni is, you can go ahead and ask Matt Groening why he released his movie so early.

Purple ProtectorThe beautiful 2007 Mazda 3 Phantom Purple GT has arrived. Life is good. I’ve got a baby on the way, a fun work project, and a new car.

Now I’m considering a vanity license plate, but only if it is a good one. Do you have any suggestions?

Here is a list of available plates, starting with my favorite:

The comments are open.

They Make Cars Faster than Babies

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

Baby ProfileAs you know, I ordered a new car, the Mazda 3, back at the beginning of January. It will be arriving sometime in the middle of April and I am getting excited.

There’s another arrival on the way that gets me even more excited. With great pleasure, my wife Anna and I would like to announce the wonderful news that we are pregnant!

The baby is due on July 29th at 4pm. From the ultrasounds we already know that the baby will be a successful doctor and will likely receive a nomination for a Nobel prize 🙂

What a Crazy Night… CRASH!

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

CRASH!So Anna and I had a pretty crazy night last night. I was fighting off a stomach flu and we were both lying in bed around 12:30am when all of a sudden we heard this tremendous crash followed by a car alarm. A group of girls had driven across our neighbors lawn, hit their porch and smashed into the Anna’s mom’s car. Everyone is okay, both of their air bags deployed, one girl went to the hospital to have her knee checked out but it was a good sign to see her standing on it. We’re guessing that they were going about 40 mph or so.

They hit a wooden fence further south down the street and continued on. They just barely missed the tree on our neighbors lawn. There was a bottle of alcohol in the car and the cops told us that drugs were also involved. One girl was throwing up and another was yelling back at the cop. It wasn’t a pretty scene plus it was freezing outside.

I feel bad for Anna’s mom’s car but if it weren’t for it, then they would have surely crashed into our living room.

Tarrytown Tornado 2006

Saturday, July 15th, 2006

Here are three pictures of damage from the tornado that just recently struck Tarrytown, NY. Supposedly the last tornado in this area was in 1812.

I can’t believe a tornado hit this area. That’s another thing that I missed. I guess I’ll have to wait until the next one.
